NTT DATA opened the Jakarta 2 Annex Data Center on November 3, 2026, adding 12MW of IT capacity for AI and high-density workloads in Indonesia. The site, known as JKT2A, targets hyperscale and enterprise computing alongside a new photonic link called APN Connect. The combination pairs local compute capacity with inter-site synchronization, which matters for companies planning AI deployment in Southeast Asia.
JKT2A capacity and APN Connect launch
JKT2A sits within the NTT Global Data Centers Jakarta campus and extends the connectivity ecosystem built around JKT2. The company reports more than 240 network service providers at JKT2, plus JKT-IX, major cloud platforms and submarine-cable connections. Direct campus interconnection lets tenants expand infrastructure while keeping existing network, partner and cloud links. JKT2A itself offers carrier- and cloud-neutral access to domestic and international providers.
The electrical design uses dual power substations, 2N uninterruptible power supply architecture and N+1 backup generators. Cooling relies on N+1 air-cooled chillers and N+2 computer room air handlers. The building carries a Tier III-certified design, 24/7 security operations and multi-layered physical controls. That configuration supports continuous operation of dense racks where power and heat loads run above standard enterprise levels.
APN Connect is described as Indonesia's first service based on All-Photonics Network technology, built on Innovative Optical and Wireless Network technology. It provides Layer 1 connectivity between JKT2/JKT2A and JKT3, located about 35km apart. The company positions the link for real-time data synchronization, disaster recovery, data replication and multi-data-center operation. In effect, facility-level redundancy gains a network counterpart for recovery across separated sites.
What the Jakarta expansion means for business
For companies running cloud and AI projects in Indonesia, the opening widens the choice of colocated, high-density capacity inside an established campus. Retaining JKT2 network relationships during expansion reduces migration friction for tenants with multiple carriers or cloud connections. Small firms gain access to enterprise-grade power, cooling and interconnection without building their own rooms, while large tenants can add 12MW blocks near existing deployments.
The limits center on timing, energy options and performance verification. Construction was announced on May 15, 2024 with completion targeted for early 2026, so delivery arrived behind the original schedule. The 2024 plan mentioned 100% renewable-energy options for campus clients, linked to a 2030 corporate sourcing target, a detail buyers should confirm in contracts. Throughput and latency of APN Connect also need testing against specific replication and recovery objectives before commitments.
The marker to watch is uptake of JKT2A capacity and APN Connect for live replication between JKT2 and JKT3. Doug Adams, president and CEO of NTT Global Data Centers, tied demand to cloud, AI and digital-transformation projects in Indonesia's digital economy. If tenants pair new racks with the 35km link for backup and scaling, the project will confirm demand for connected AI-ready capacity. That outcome fits the broader $10 billion data-center investment program for 2023 through 2027.
